Your Performing Arts Mindset® can make or break your future as a performer. Move quickly to start training it! It’s essential to an excellent performance!

Why? Once you step onto stage or into an audition room, your mindset will control all of your performance decisions.

It’s everything!

Towards the end of this blog, I will mention a very common negative thought that you might be having that is fighting against you. Then, I will give you  1 mindset phrase to use to replace that negative thought. But first, let me give just a short explanation of performing arts mindset…

Performing Arts Mindset® is a new category of training in the arts and it’s long overdue. To train your performing arts mindset, you train your mind to know what to think at the three pivotal times of performance:

1 – Before performance

2 – During performance

3 – After performance

These are pivotal times of performance because your thoughts are directly impacting your level of nerves, your ability to execute your skills as you perform and how you remember your performance or audition after it is over…which will impact your next performance.

Performing arts mindset is essential to being your very best on stage!

The mindset you will have while you are on stage is being established with every thought that you have about your upcoming performance or audition.

So what are you going to do with those thoughts? Train them!

This is why I created a 4-lesson/1 workbook performing arts mindset training for youth performers. You can learn how to train your thoughts so that you have a strong mindset when you step onto stage…

train performing arts mindset for auditions

You need a strong mindset!

For example, from the second you find out about a performance or an audition, your “thought-engine” turns on and you begin traveling what I call, “The Road To The Stage.” With every thought that passes, you’re getting closer to the stage…closer to your performance.

It could be 6 months from now.

It could be a callback that you just found out about…and it’s tomorrow.

However far away that audition or performance is, your brilliant brain is already deciding how stressful or exciting that performance is going to be for you.

The thoughts you allow to stay in your mind-space are going to matter!

Why?

Each thought is helping your brain decide if this upcoming audition or performance is going to be a high-stress experience or a low-stress experience.

And that matters because it will affect how nervous you feel. This is one reason why training your performing arts mindset is essential.

When it’s time to perform, no matter how much you have trained your skills, if your mindset is not strong and ready to embrace the pressures of performance, then your training will only take you so far.

I’m sure you have experienced how nerves can change your performance.

For example, have you had this thought before? “I’m going to be so nervous, what if I mess up?”

That is a common thought as anyone preps for a performance!

But it has a negative feeling attached to it. Doesn’t it?

✔️Say this with me, “I am the driver of my thoughts.”

Yes, you are. YOU can steer your thoughts in a positive direction.

Try This Performing Arts Mindset Shift the Next Time
Try this the next time you have that thought. Shift it in a different direction.

Instead of allowing this thought to stay: “I’m going to be so nervous, what if I mess up?” Replace that thought! Say, “Just because I’m nervous, it doesn’t mean I’m going to mess up.”

Now, you are driving your thoughts in the right direction and it will make a huge difference as you’re getting ready to step into that audition room or onto that stage!

You can take control of what thoughts you allow to stay in your mind-space as you are moving towards your performance date! You’re the driver. You’re in charge and you can train your Performing Arts Mindset®! Check out the first-of-it’s kind training here: https://practicepolishperform.com/theroadtothestage/
